"Christian" is the new buzz word in the music industry.

I don't understand that label "Christian Rock". I agree that if the music is good, it doesn't matter what the lyrics are all about, people will like it or hate it. For me when somebody labels music to their own religion or beliefs, it associates with all the other cult movements like Skinhead Hardcore, or whatever.
Just call it Rock, or Pop, etc. I understand that there are different sub-genres to each genre, but they mostly are related to some technicality of music.
Just my opinion.

hey professguitardrum--
lets not jump to conclusions about music here. I would like to state the fact now that I am christian.
I very much enjoy people screaming about hate. NOt about worshiping god. Rock music has a vibe to it that is conflicting with the vibe you get from "worship". It just fits better with bands that are screaming F YOU. By the way, try to name as many bands that you think are satanic. The key word here is, YOU THINK. Satanism is being thrown out as a label WAY too much by people who havn't even heard the band. Satan is used as an image to shock you. I guess it works.

Its not about labeling it as "new" genre. Its about labeling the lyrics as "safe" for those people who don't want to hear lyrics they find offensive. Does rock music that does not bear the Christian label always have offensive lyrics? NO. But there is a lot of music that is not ideal for Christians to be listening to. Its part of being separated unto God from this world.

if ProfessGuitarDrum wanted an analysis of the "shoulds" and "should nots" of labeling Christian music, he would've posted in the Chit Chat section. Please take your discussions elsewher so he doesn't have to sift through all the crap...which I'm adding to. The man is asking for a drummer for God's sake!
...pun intended.

alright alright. a little input. this is from a christian point of view.
What you do is supposed to be worshipping God.
SO, even if the crowd can't understand your lyrics, if they're to God, then thats what matters. if you want a band to worship with, you want the other members to be christian.
As of now, I am looking for a guitarist and a vocalist for a christian hardcore band. Much like old Zao, or This Runs Through.
So maybe he wants the band so THEY can worship, and they can get other people to worship as well. but this way, you dont shove it down their throats. you play your show, afterwards, say something like " we do this to honor God, if you have any questions talk to us, if not, that's cool too"
*sigh* let's not start another religion thread, they always end up in yelling. accept it, some people WANT a christian band. I do.

Never mind the religion stuff......WHY ARE DOUBLE KICKS SO IMPORTANT ?

Double kicks aren't important. Double bass peddles are though! :D
haha. I think double bass is just plain fun, and if not overused, can add a lot to a song.

everyone enjoys their own style wether it be christian or skinhead rock!!!!! people do wanna here songs about hate and death and stuff:) theres a market out there for all sorts of music so dont just catagorize yourself to one of them.If you take me for example as soon as i hear the word cristian band i go (**** more preaching!!!!)but i know some really good bands that are christian that really rock so it's best not to laybel yourselve's, let your listeners do that ...... ;)

This is probably a lost cause on my part, since I live in south Georgia, but I could probably recommend a few people I know from PA:
David Shaffer
Kyle Anderson
Nick Ambrose
Tim May
These are the four I know that play double bass. David would be your best bet, but I doubt he wants to leave The Substratum Experiment. Like I said, my input is probably a lost cause.
By the way, I'm in a math metal band in the southern Bible Belt of the US. I'm the only non-Christian member.

yeah, the whole 'christian music' label has always kind of annyoed me.
i'm a christian, i'm a drummer, does that mean i need to tell everyone i'm a 'christian' drummer? or, i'm also an insurance agent... does that mean that i sell 'christian insurance'?
no, i'm just a christian who does these things & hopefully the convictions i have thru being a christian will come out in all aspects of my life, and they won't need a label.
just my 2 c.

Really any labels on music suck. Such as "sXe Hardcore" "christian rock" or "Skinhead punk". It confines your lyrics into a small subject range. I'd imagine it gets fairly tiring to sing about not doing drugs for 10 years.
