Zeb,

Make sure the model number is correct: M7-1106-N6**

There should have been a paper insert inside the Remo box, stating what to do in this scenario (which is common because there is no uniformity amongst brands in regards to their crowns/hoops). Here's the link to the Remo site for help: http://www.remo.com/news/index.cfm?ObjectID=413

Basically, you need to put the head on the drum, then lay the crown on top centering it on the faux skin wire of the head. Finger tighten the lugs, keeping an eye on that crown, so it doesn't pull off that skin wire. Wrench tighten with that in mind. I use the NuSkyns on my Wood Elites, so I know they fit and work with a little finesse. Once that head is cranked to the desired pitch, it will hold without the crown pulling through.

Happy Drumming,

Glen

Yes,usully what happen is that the head is to tight in one side in reference to the others, iyou should be tuning it slowly all around.

Hi -

I've been using the NuSkyns with my Pearl fiberglass congas, fiberglass bongos, and 14" fiberglass djembe and haven't had any problems with the fit or tuning.

As Glen suggested, it's important to get the correct model number from Remo for the Pearl/Afro series drums!
