Found a 14x6.5 Ludwig Steel Snare at a local pawn shop I may try to get. Good chance I think too, because I think lady in there implied that once she gets rid of her current drumstuff, she ain't sellin' any more drum stuff people bring in, cause she's having a hard time selling the drum stuff she does have. She wants $200 for the snare in the following photos, which I'm sure is pretty rediculous:

Ludwig I (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/Patriot76/100_1009.jpg)

Ludwig II (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/Patriot76/100_1010.jpg)

Ludwig III (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/Patriot76/100_1011.jpg)

Ludwig IV (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/Patriot76/100_1012.jpg)

As far as I can tell, this thing is basically the Ludwig equivalent to my current stock Forum Steel Shell. The best things though I like are the integretated muffler and much better throw-off than what my Forum Steel Shell has.

So, how much is it worth? I'm thinking $75-$100.

If you paid $100 you would have been ripped off. It's only $92 new: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Drums/Percussion/Acoustic/Drums?sku=446325

I'd offer $50 max, and only if you really like the sound.

Probably not gettin' it then. I had my key ring drum key with me and they let me borrow a pair of 7A sticks they had so I could fool around with it for a few minutes, but the normal, thin snare side head kept me from being able to get that dry, dead, "crack" out of it my current snare has, even after cranking the batter up to the same tightness my Pearl snare is up to, and cranking the snare head as tight as I felt was safe without risking breakage. Besides, what really attracted me to it was the muffler and throw-off, so yep, I'm not buying it.

I might and that's a big might pay $25.00 for that snare used....pawn shops are stupid, usuallly it's cheaper to go buy it new somewhere as opposed to buying used from them....you have to be almost ******ed to work at a pawn shop I think.

Yeah, I'm with you on pawn shops being bad places to shop for musical instruments. Later this same day, I took my stock hi-hat stand and bass pedal that I've both replaced on the kit over to that same shop to see if they would buy 'em, and they flat out said no. Wanting to sell them and get some cash out of them, but I'd like to avoid selling online, as I have no experience really at boxing up something to ship it somewhere.
