I am a drum kit player, and I am looking to buy a percussion drum set. A friend told me that for a nice set that I should get one or two congas, a djembe, and a bongo set mounted above. Would this be a good general set for different kinds of music and playing styles?
Also I am a bit unframiliar with the Djembe. I was wondering what it sounded like and its uses in a set.
Thanks, ParaPercussion

sounds like a good set to start with, a djembe has a really unique sound. Surf the net to see if you can find some sound clips

Thanks for the reply!
I was wondering wether I should go with wood or fiberglass congas, bongos, etc. Which has a better tone and sound projection. Also which do you prefer and why?
Thanks a lot, ParaPercussion

Not necessarily the Wood Congas sound will depend on the craftmanship of the maker, the same that the good finish of fiberglass help in the projection of the sound-wave.Also it goes with the individuals budget to spend.A good set of percussion will depend of the Kind of music you trying to reach for some drummers a set of timbales is more typical.

Have you considered adding something like mini*timbales or a set of regular timbales? Pearl even makes a drumset timbale, it is a 13" drum...
