vintage fade is my personal favorite, just because i've never seen it before on any other kit...i love mine!....but if i had to choose any other color, i think the cranberry fade and marine fade are pretty sweet! SRX kits ROCK!

Anyone else in the world have Dusk Blue, like me? I bought mine last year in September, and it seemed like everyone had Vintage Fade in stock, and I didn't want the same finish as everyone else, and liked the Dusk Blue. The Dusk Blue actually looks kind of like an aqua or green under some light. Kind of a conservative classy color.

Carl Peterson
08-12-2002, 08:39 AM
I named it Dusk because it reminded me of the sky before it gets pitch black..

I dont really know whats my favorite, but i always liked the classy red color for any drumset. But the Cranberry mist is an ugly bright red. If only they had wine read. But ill say Vintage fade. I just wish the Export serries had colors like Vintage Fade, Midnight Fade, Sunrise Fade, and all the other fade colors. They give an more expensive look to the drum.

I have the carbon mist...talk about classy! They don't look brown at all. They are THE BOMB! Whoever thought they were brown looking probably was looking at the Export Select Ebony Mist...which might look like that in some examples, although I have seen some of those that look decent too.

Hey...could you possibly post a pic of your set? Or even e-mail me one? I'm dying to know what carbon mist looks like (not the site pic, cause I've heard it's not too accurate). My local music stores don't have one, and I don't know anyone who does. Thanks a million.

I don't have any pic of my set yet...I only see it twice a week for rehearsal until rehearsals rotate back to my place. I'll try to get a picture or two and post it, or even e-mail it.

My favotite color in the SRX line is Topaz Mist.

sirfresh
08-29-2002, 11:45 AM
I dig Topaz Mist too, but they discontinued it! Just like my color, Cranberry Mist. I like bright red drums.

When I was a kid, there were always Pearl ads in Modern Drummer showing kits in "Coral Red" and "Sequoia Red," and I thought they were the coolest of drums. That's why I got Cranberry Mist. Now, Pearl doesn't even offer bright red drums anymore. Weird. To me, that's like not offering Cadillacs in black.

Carl Peterson
08-29-2002, 01:01 PM
Yeah, but if you need a drum,we can get it for you even though it's discontinued..

sirfresh
08-29-2002, 03:24 PM
Yeah, I know, and thank you. In fact, I'm gonna be ordering two drums in the next couple weeks.

But what I'm saying is, it's weird to me that Pearl stopped featuring this color. Bright red Pearls to me are like... I dunno... wine red Yamahas, walnut Gretsches and black oyster Ludwigs. But I guess that's just me.

#100 wine red is a killer deep lustrious finish, it should be one of the SRX options.

Creep, thanks for the post. Aphasian Drummer asked me to post my Carbon Mist set, but my scanner went tango uniform (military talk for t.u., or **** up). Anyway, I digress. Thanks for squaring him/us away. Your set looks great. I think that all the SRX finishes are nice, but I picked the Carbon Mist because it looked the most business-like to me. The dark finish gives off more shine and represents the clear laquer better....me thinks.

Dusk blue all the way!!!! just about every other SRX kit i've seen has been vintage fade. I'm not badmouthing the fade, but it just dsen't do it for me. I just think dusk blue is really classy and elegant looking. I like the fact that some people say it's more bluish, and some people say it's more greenish. Very controversial color, I love it!!!!!!!

Topaz Mist #287. The colour stands out without being too bold - very classy. Its a warm, almost natural colour for wood. I love the way it details the grain. I just picked up a totally custom kit in this colour from a local dealer - 9x10, 10x12 rack toms, 16x16 floor tom, 16x24 bass drum, 6.5x14 snare. They had ordered it from Pearl with no buyer for it, just to have it in the store. I was interested, so they let me take it home for a weekend trial. The drums never made it back out of the house!:D

They let you take the drums home to try them out? How cool is that?!?! I would do business with them exclusively. Things don't fly like that in America, haha. Take care. :D

Yeah, it's the coolest, and yes, I shop there exclusively. They will do that for you once they get to know you. I bought my first kit there about 3 years ago and all other gear in between. They also have the best selection, pricing and staff around. We're lucky to have such a great music store in our area. Oh, and I might as well give them the plug they deserve: This great company is Sherwood Music!

Vintage Fade is a great selection - when I first saw a set it reminded me of a The Sunburst Fender Stratocaster pattern. I've been very happy with my set which is a 2001 model - the finish is not only great looking but durable as well. I was worried that a natural finish wouldn't hold up to drum key drops or stick falls as well as an acrylic wrap, but it's proved itself to be tough.

As the vote seems to be proving, it pretty close between the Vintage Fade and the Marine Fade. Pearl has made a wise decision offering more than just one "Fade" color choice for 2002 unlike 2001.

are you sure it's an srx? cause I have never seen an SRX in that color. And Pearl doesn't have it available. Nor did they mention it anywhere on thier web site. I'm not doubting you or anything but I'm just not really sure about it. See if you can send a picture.

Yes it is an SRX. Quixat has one also. Its a 5pc. fusion size kit. PLATINUM MIST. From what the dealer told me, it was a very limited color run.

I'm about to order my SRX kit and the color choice is probably the hardest to make. I know what pieces I want but pick a color? Should I really care?..then again..it does make a difference I guess. I'm going with the Blue Mist...a slight edge over the Marine Fade...

1) Laziness. One day I might take them off. Maybe.

2) The snare is an all maple Masters Custom in Amber fade. An amazing sounding drum which compliments the SRX perfectly. I only bought a 4 piece shell pack.

I like the cran and vintage fades myself, but i also like knowing that i have a color that is not as common as the rest, no offence
gentlemen and ladies. i would like to see pearl step up to the plate in the near future and offer raps in a multitude of colors and
sparkles like some of the custom drum makers do: ie spaun, gms
thumper etc, i am sold on pearl but would love to have a set that
was custom but not in lacquer. and not a reto color although they are a step in the right direction.
