I get an average of $120 a night for club gigs. And yes Mr. Taxman, I get a form 1099 and pay tax on that money.

He's not a tax man, and the beatles really need to think of better topics. (that was their song right?)

Depends. someone asked this before in general drum set discussion

On average we get zero. But we've gotten $25 and $70. Pretty wicked.

Talon, The Beatles were making fun of British parliment for their outlandishly high taxes in that song.

When you guys say the amount are you talking about how much the band makes as a whole, or the amount of money each individual makes?

I've never earned any money for myself from playing drums...but I did once help raise NZ$185 playing drums at a gig for a local Animal Shelter.

£200 to the sound guys......for making us sound ok
£150 to the lighting tech......for making us look ok
£50 to the roadie......for helping with guitar changes and refilling water bottles
£100 to our agent........for DOING ****** ALL!!!!! lol

Man, that doesn't add up. If each band member gets £100 then:

5 x £100 = £500
£500 + £200 = £700
£700 + £150 = £850
£850 + £50 = £900
£900 + £100 =£1000

...where does the extra £150 pounts come from?

Well spotted, I was just going on our last gig, which we got a grand for, if the club pays less then the sound, lighting and roadie get the same, we get less and our agents percentage also works out less.

Hi, I am in a band in the Metro Atlanta area and I am in a 5 piece rock/dance band. We normally get $100 to $125 per night per musician depending on the club. When we are in bigger clubs and don't have to use our sound man due to the club being plug-n-play and they provide their own sound tech, would could get as much as $150 per night. :)

with punk and hardcore its "pay to play." I usually get paid $0 and if I do get some $$ its usually not enough to even cover gas. Can't wait until I drive from central PA to south Jersey on Saturday - it'll probably cost me $40.

I sympathise with ya, paying to play sucks, 2 years ago I did a UK tour with my old band supporting an American artiste that came over, it ended up costing us just under £2000. We made a little bit back on cd and t-shirt sales (about £150 lol).

But it was worth it just for the laughs we had.

For when i do gigs with a bagpiper and me on the scottish snare i generally with make $150 to $350 mattering how long we play. But the only thing i've every got for playing the drumset was when i won that contest that the people at mars used to hold, i won a cymbal and a block of sticks.

all in all it depends on how popular your genre of music is at that time, lucky 7 play grunge so i dont get as much for those sort of concerts because its not as big as it used to be
