Hey,

If you look at my kit im using a 3 piece atm, and i was just woundering what is the proper technique to useing a crash/ride at the same time, hard to explain ?? 00**

For instance i know how to crash a ride, and how to ride a ride, but how do you do it at the same time if you know what i mean.

So when you are riding on a ride and you need hit the crash while still using the ride. U get me??

The Technique i use is to ride about 6" into the middle from the outside, and to use the ride as a crash i crash about 2-3" into the ride from the out side. And if i want to accent i use the bell, also if i want to give the ride a proper wash tone i 'pump the edges' :)

So am i doing it right??

Play on ride X = crash x = ride

-X-x-x-x-X-x-x-x-X

Sure? What you're trying to describe is kind of vague. You mean crashing your ride as an accent while playing on it? I like to slap my stick across it. I have mine set up kind of vertically [danny carey style] so this is really easy. That's really why it's set up like that... it's easy to get all different sounds out of it.

Do you mean playing quarter or eighth notes, crashing the ride?

I do that too, I don't think it's harmful. But I think you'd be better off "crashing" it with the broad of the stick, not the tip. You may already do that, I'm not sure, you didn't quite say in your post.

I think you're doing everything allright. I've also played like this when I didn't have a ride yet. It was a bit difficult to keep riding when the cymbal was swinging back and forth after a crash but it was possible.

There is no right or wrong way to ride a crash/ride.

aside from the angling and stuff, which might break the cymbal.

I think crash/rides are crashes and rides so u can use it as a crash or a ride.. tried doing a crash and a ride at the same time.. hit it like a crash but on the top of the cymbal (not edge) and hit it with the side of ur drumstick but not the tip
