They just arrived today. All but the 8x7. That I won't have until April! So far, I really like the kit. I love the finish and I'm really glad I changed my mind from purple craze. That is a great color but, I think in the long run, :) I'll be much happier with twilight fade. I've got some screwing around to do with the kick to get the sound I'm looking for but, the toms tuned up really nice. The snare is a killer! loud as a mother! Sure, these drums have some weight to them but I don't really think they are all that heavy. I'm gonna try out some emps on the toms this weekend. That's it for now. I'll post more pics when the 8 arrives!

If you don't mind me asking, how many pieces was the MMX you sold, what sizes were they, and how much did you pick up for it?

Also, what are the first things you noticed about the RF that made you glad to have done it?

The MMX was a 7 piece same sizes as the rf and the sunrise fade kit I have listed. It was less than one year old and I got $2200.00 for it.

The craftmanship of the rf drums are un-real. They rise above Masters in my opinion. Ive had 3 Masters kits and this kit takes the cake. Not knocking masters at all. I'm keeping my sunrise fade kit-love the sound of the mmx too. The rf drums are just a step up. I say go for it!

It's a really tough call, Al! I wish I had the money to keep it AND buy myself an RF kit, but I have a house to buy later this year, and I just can't justify that. What's your opinion? What might push me over the top is if Pearl introduces a stunning blue finish of some sort on the RF line.

Congrats!! You will love that kit the more you play it. It seems to me that the more I play mine and tweek it, it keeps sounding better and better. Oh, here is some rep for such a nice kit.

Oh, here is some rep for such a nice kit.Do you have a 22x18 kick? I just changed the batter head to a clear powerstroke. I didn't care much for the coated powerstroke. Has a strange feel to me. I'm still not happy with the kick sound and feel. I stuck a pillow in it and ported the head too. What are you using?

Im currently using the stock remo on the batter side and Ive ported the front reso on my 22X18. Im going to change the batter here pretty soon, soon as I can afford it I guess. Im just using a couple small towels in the kick right now. Im sure an EMAD or SK would do the same thing. I just need more of that green stuff called money but dont we all. ;)

beautiful kit mate - congratulations

for my $0.02 in this bass drum conversation - I`ve left mine pretty much as it came - stock head both batter/reso with a 5'' ported hole, absolutely nothing inside the drum and gee-whiz it sounds pretty bloody incredible. I also plan to throw an E-Mad on the batter when I get the chance, but as they say "if it aint broke dont fix it".....then again it is hard to decline the prospect of even more bottom end!!!! :)

B E A T I F U L ! Rep for you.

That's the exact kit I want. Same sizes, colo(u)r, same setup w/rack,...

I will wait and see if the new finishes that they promised to release at NAMM are more beautiful, but I doubt they will be able to beat that twilight fade.

This kit has to be mine within a year (and I'll have to order quick as there will probably be a nine month wait or something... :( )
