I would suggest a name change. It's not that I don't like it, it's just a band from my hometown of Detroit, "Trailer Park Barbie", just got sued by Mattel over use of the trade-marked name "Barbie". I would say switch it now before the band gets bigger...
Re: trailerparkbarbie.com
Dear Ms. Schultz:
We are attorneys for Mattel, Inc.
As you probably know, Mattel is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of consumer products, including toys, games and dolls. Mattel owns the trademark BARBIE, as well as numerous trademark registrations for that mark throughout the world. The BARBIE trademark has been used consistently since at least 1959. In connection with that use, Mattel and its licensees have sold billions of dollars of merchandise. BARBIE is therefore an extraordinarily valuable and famous trademark.
We are writing because Mattel has learned that you have registered “trailerparkbarbie.com” and are sponsoring a web page called “Welcome to the Trashy Rockin’ World of Trailer Park Barbie” located at the URL www.trailerparkbarbie.com through which you promote your band called “Trailer Park Barbie.” This use of BARBIE in the band name, domain name and website infringes the BARBIE trademark in violation of 15 U.S.C. § 1114(a); dilutes the BARBIE trademark in violation of 15 U.S.C. § 1125(c); and constitutes cybersquatting in violation of the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act of 1999, 15 U.S.C. § 1125(d). Violation of this Act can result inliability for statutory damages of up to $100,000, as well as attorneys’ fees.
In addition to pursuing whatever rights it may have under law, Mattel demands that by the close of business on Wednesday, December 4, 2002 you (i) immediately stop using the domain name trailerparkbarbie.com; and (ii) transfer ownership of that domain name to Mattel, Inc.
We await your response.
Best regards,

probably, if you have a good lawyer, and effecient proof, you can do almost anything
true story: A man is in prison for murder. After reading law books in the library, he SUES HIMSELF for 6 MILLION dollars saying that "His crime went against his personal and religious ethics" he won, but he couldn't give HIMSELF 6 MILLION bucks, so the state payed for it. He bailed himself outta jail, and is now a free man
our gov't is ****ed up
I'm not sure about this, but Shax's band probably has less to worry about since they are not based in the U.S. I know international copyright applies, I'm just saying it less likely they'd get a letter from Mattel's lawyer.
Concerning the guy in prison ... I'd like to see some evidence backing this up. Sounds like an urban legend to me.

There once existed a popband in Denmark called Aqua, I hated their music, but they made 1 song about life as a barbie where the lyrics was kinda funny:
I´m a Barbie-girl
in a barbie world
life in plastic
it´s fantastic
You can calm my hair
undress me everywhere
imagination
life is your creation.
This seemed pretty innocent untill the song became a major hit in Asia, then it was suddenly a huge problem for Mattel and they sued the band, demanding them to call back the album, which had already been released. Now after some 2 years or more in different courtrooms, the band was declaired "not guilty". So luckily The Big MATTEL Corp. doesn´t win every time;)
we took that name from a book by a swedish author. so I guess we´ll be sued from her first =) I guess it´s not a big deal.. we´ll change the name if any legal charges (or what it´s called) starts coming in.. =)
