Ebay US?
Found it. The drums are pretty sweet, but the mounting system is a little questioning. How does it work? Does it pierce the shell?

Not really vintage, but one of the best kits i've ever heard.

That's it. The mounting system is the same idea as Pearl or Yams of the period and yes, the arms do pierce the shell.
However, as someone else said they are truly awesome drums, at least equal to anything maple you can but today.

I have a Sonor Hilite snare (http://www.pearldrummersforum.com/showthread.php?t=87219) in red maple. I love it.
I used it on this recording (http://media.putfile.com/Damage-Room---Call-Me-Blondie-cover)
I'd love to have a whole Hilite kit but I have a Masters MMX kit and an artist maple so I can't complain!
Well worth bidding for!

Is that Black Sparkle Lacquer by Sonor, or is it a different finish?

No, it's slightly different. The modern Sonor version is Brilliant Black, which is black with dark sparkle flakes. I'm sure you could special order Black Diamond if you wanted.
The Black Diamond has silver, almost pearlescent flakes in it. The flakes reflect the hardware colour, so it looks a different colour with the copper hardware, making the drums take on an almost green hue. It's much more spectacular looking in the flesh, photos never do it justice!
