I entered this thread in the General forum but not too many replies there, so I thought you vintage cats could help.
Click here to see some pics of a 12-lug wood Slingerland snare with super-sensitive snares and stick-saver hoops. Please reply in this thread and let me know how much this snare is worth. It belongs to a friend - his friend is offering a Rogers metal snare in trade.

It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay, but with 12 double-lugs, someone's going to pay quite a bit. Depending on the Rogers snare in question, I'd say your friend would be getting a raw deal.

the rogers is a bit older, but the metal shelled drums aren't worth as much as the wood rogers. If it were a dynasonic, I'd jump on it in a moment. if it's the '80s niles, it's not quite vintage and won't get that audience, and currently slingies don't seem to be going for quite as much as rogers, gretsch, and the like. That's an absolute top end drum though! I could see it going for anything between $200 and $450 on the fickle, fickle 'bay.

That's just a "Slapshot" strainer; it is NOT a Super-Sensitive. Slingerland did make a parallel-action strainer similar to a Ludwig Super Sensitive, but it looked like the one in this picture from the 1976 catalog. They were never big sellers, but they were nicely made, and to my mind, a little less finicky than the Ludwig.

Here is your drum from the 1983 catalog.

By the way, your drum was probably made later than the catalog picture, because it has the different badge eyelet that Slingerland went to in its final days.
