I currently have a 14x5 70s Supraphonic Snare drum. I was just wondering if I could buy a 6.5 shell and transfer all my hardware onto it. Would the lugs fit correctly? Would the throwoff fit??

ect.

Help is appreciated.

the lugs are the same i believe, you just might might need to get longer tension rods. the throw off's are the same but it might be up a bit higher so you need to make sure your snare wires/cord is long enough, rims are the same.. it should be a fairly easy switch

Did you find a shell in good condition on Ebay or something?

It has to be a beaded shell or it would look stupid. :p

Most Ludwig parts are interchangeable. The lugs off or either a Supra or an Acrolite will interchange; they have 1/4" holes and are spaced 2-3/16" apart. The P-83, P-85 and P-86 strainers are likewise interchangeable.

There are also a lot of aftermarket parts that will drop in to Ludwig drums.

Here is my 70s Supra with aftermarket tube lugs, a P-83 (60s) and a WFL badge (1957). I had the badly pitted chrome stripped off at a plating shop. I like it just like this, and the drum sounds great.
