OK Guy's, What is your opinion on this. Since Fiberglass is louder in volume, how about if you used skin heads on fiberglass to maybe soften the volume and warm them up a little and put synthetic heads on wood to bring up the volume some? I am thinking along the lines of Congas and bongos. Please give your input. Thanks, Rich.

Natural heads tend to be unpredictable regarding overtones. In regards to synthetic heads Evans and Remo Nu Skyn soften overtones so you could achieve the same "warmer" sound. Remo Fiberskyns have more overtones.

Nothing is better than natural heads. In regards to sound I am not concerned to "quiet" or lower the volume of anything. I am more concerned about my "own" sound. If I get that with a particular conga and/or head, that is what I will go for.
