OK guy's, I understand the fiberglass Congas are louder but if you were spending the money and most of your playing was in a live setting, (not to say you may not use them from time to time in the studio) which would you buy, wood or fiberglass? Also, I know we are all loyal fans of Pearl but does Pearl percussion really compete with LP and some of the other top brands in percussion?
Thanks, Rich.

Love wood but I prefer fiberglass because of the sound projection and they are easier to handle when you are carrying them. You cannot go wrong with LP Galaxys or the traditional fiberglass. (Pearl...I have not had a change to trying them yet).

Well, i love the warmth of wood and prefer the overall sound, but fiberglass is cheaper and louder and hence they are generally better for gigging. Decent fiberglass congas are still quite acceptable in the studio too.
